7 Lovely Pieces

So this week I saw the movie, Midnight in Paris, and now all I can think about is the glam and glitz of the 1920s! I've always loved that era, but seeing the costumes in that movie have heightened my enthusiasm! Thus, this week's 7 Lovely Pieces are à la roaring twenties!!!

Travel Trivia of the Day!

Looking for a place to eat while on your travels?
Well I've just the spot!
The place is called Kyteler's Inn and it resides in the lovely countryside of
Ireland.
Known for it's delicious lamb and sherry trifle, Kyteler's is the place to be!
Not to mention it was established in the late 13th century by a women named Alice Kyteler who was the first person to be condemned for witchcraft in Ireland, escaped being burned at the stake, and was suspected of
poisoning her four husbands!

Travel Trivia of the Day!

Sugar Cubes!
We all love sugar and those cute little cubes just add a little extra something special when we plop a few into our teacups. But where did they come from? Well surprise, surprise! The very first sugar cubes were created in the town of Dačice in the Czech Republic! In the summer of 1841, the wife of sugar manufacturer Jakub Krystof Rad cut her finger trying to shave off some sugar from a large loaf (the way sugar was produced then) to use in a meal. Immediately she told her husband to make smaller blocks of sugar that were uniform in size and easier to handle. Thus the sugar cube was born!!
...awesome? I think yes.

What I'm Listening To...

So this week I've been listening to a wonderful female artist named Rosi Golan. Her voice is like warm honey on a summer day. It's soooooo lovely!
Two of my favorite songs by her are Hazy (featuring an equally fantastic male artist - William Fitzsimmons)
and Come Around.

According to my iTunes play count, both have been listened to over 45 times. hehe.

Travel Trivia of the Day!

Did you know that Belgium is the world's largest producer of comics?
Yeah I didn't either!

There are over 500 comic artists living in Belgium and the country has a long and illustrious history of comic-making. Some of the most famous comics were created by Belgian artists. Two of these include The Smurfs (created by a Belgian cartoonist named Peyo in the late 50s) and The Adventures of Tintin (created by Georges Rémi and first published in the 20s)! Both of which are now being made into movies, I might add! Who knew, right??
